The following are two local examples of Point Source Pollution in the Waccamaw Watershed:
Bear Bluff: Illegal Mining Discharge
Discharge material flowing down creek toward Waccamaw River
Material flows into stream, past beaver dam and toward river
Material covers bottom of stream below dam
Material covers bottom of stream, just before entering the Waccamaw River
Kingston Lake: Illegal Discharge
Illegal discharge pipe found emptying into Kingston Lake
Pipe diverted into proper sewer system
