Jamie Bilella joined Coastal Carolina University as vice president for the Office of University Marketing and Communication in September 2019. His role leads the planning, coordination and implementation of strategic communications and marketing programs to foster increased awareness, understanding and support for Coastal Carolina University’s mission, vision, accomplishments, and needs among internal and external constituencies. As vice president, he supervises the area of University communication (public/media relations, video production services,) and marketing (licensing, social media, creative services, photography, web content services, print services). The department works collaboratively with campus departments to highlight the accomplishments and achievements of Coastal Carolina University students, faculty, staff and alumni. The division also assists departments in implementing strategies to reach their audience through marketing, brand management, news and media relations, social media, web and interactive communications, executive communications, and visual communications.
Bilella brings several years of marketing experience to the University. He served in a dual role as vice president for both enrollment management and marketing at Valley Forge Military Academy and College, and previously served in multiple capacities, including associate dean for extended learning and special academic programs, at Montclair State University. Among his accomplishments at Valley Forge Military, he authored the strategic marketing plan and the strategic enrollment plan, incorporating best practices to increase brand awareness and increase conversion. At Montclair State, he led an entrepreneurial, revenue-generating unit with responsibility for development, marketing, recruitment, and operation of on-line programs, post-baccalaureate credit and non-credit certificate and other programs, and a broad range of extended learning programs including summer sessions, winter session, gifted and talented, and pipeline programs. He led the University’s Online Programs Initiative, successfully launching Montclair State’s foray into fully online degree programs. Bilella brings to Coastal Carolina University 20 years of experience within higher education. He has presented at several national conferences including the Online Learning Consortium, Academic Impressions, and UBTech on topics including marketing, marketing analytics, data mining, optimizing enrollment, and online program development and operations. He also served as president of the North American Association of Summer Sessions (NAASS).
Bilella earned an MBA in finance from Rutgers University, a bachelor’s degree with honors in economics from Drew University, and completed the Management and Leadership Education program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
