Rose Marie Johnson 

Coordinator of Strategic Planning and Risk Management

After serving in local government at the City of North Myrtle Beach and the City of Conway for almost twenty years, Rose Marie Hussey Johnson began her employment at Coastal Carolina University in the Advancement office as a donor specialist.  In October of 2008, Rose Marie transitioned into the University Relations office with Legal Counsel and began to coordinate the strategic plan, all insurance, and workers compensation services for the University. Rose Marie currently reports to the Executive Vice President/Provost.

Rose Marie is a former trustee for the South Carolina Municipal Insurance Reserve Fund, a past president of the South Carolina Municipal Personnel Association, a former member of the South Carolina City and County Managers Association, and a 1994 graduate of Leadership Grand Strand.  The Horry American Legion Post presented Rose Marie with their Distinguished Service Award in 2002 and the Conway Main Street, U.S.A. organization recognized her with their Board of Directors Award in 2001.  Rose Marie is currently on the Board of Directors for the South Carolina Public Risk Management Association (SCPRIMA)  and a member of the University Risk Management and Insurance Association (URMIA).  She has also served as an adjunct faculty member teaching Introduction to Public Administration.

Rose Marie graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Baptist College at Charleston, which is now Charleston Southern University. Rose Marie completed a Master of Public Administration  degree through a joint program offered by the University of South Carolina and the University of Charleston. Her areas of interest are being a support service to a diverse community of faculty, staff, students and stakeholders for Coastal Carolina University.
