Daniel Lawless has been with Coastal Carolina University since 1995, where he started as the UNIX systems administrator in Information Technology Services. In 2000, he transitioned into the Registrar’s Office, and became the registrar in 2007. He also serves as the interim staff ombuds.
Prior to coming to CCU, Lawless worked on software simulations at Concepts Analysis Agency, the primary analytical agency for the U.S. Army, and worked on multiple defense projects at General Electric/Lockheed Martin.
He is a past executive committee member of the Carolinas Association of Collegiate Registrars & Admissions Officers (CACRAO) and served as vice president for Registrars, chair of the Archives Committee, and member-at-large. He remains actively enrolled in that organization, along with the Southern Association of Collegiate Registrars & Admissions Officers (SACRAO), and the American Association of Collegiate Registrars & Admissions Officers (AACRAO). Lawless also presented multiple times at the Southeast Education Users Group (SEDUG).
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in computer science from Syracuse University in December 1988 and obtained a Master of Science in Instructional Technology (MSIT) from Coastal Carolina University in December 2006.
