Dee has a passion for showing students how math is used outside of the classroom. Dee is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and she has earned her Bachelors of Science in Finance from Indiana Unviersity, her Masters of Business Admintration and Mathmatics Secondary Education Credentials from Robert Morris University, and her Masters of Art in Math Education from Chadron State College.
Dee has worked both teaching and tutoring in math at a variety of different levels including at the college and univeristy, high school, elementary, and corporate level as a trainer for a bank in Pittsburgh. Dee has taught both in person and online. Some of her online work includes help developing online cirriculum and being an online math instructor for Pearson Education. Dee has enjoyed her position at Coastal as the Math Center Coordinator because she has been able to provide help to students at the individual level which is sometimes needed when students fall behind in math.
Dee chose to work at CCU because CCU has been an excellent match for her education and experience.
Fun fact about Dee is she met Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin when she was riding the bus in Pittsburgh. Needless to say, she describes everyone on that bus was surprised to see him and the ride was very interesting.
Scott Pleasant, Writing Center Coordinator/Tutoring and Learning Centers

Scott has a passion for helping student’s writing skills because he believes written communication is both essential and an empowering tool. Scott is from Johnson City, Tennessee and he received his bachelor's and master's from East Tennessee University. Scott also has an ABD from Auburn University.
Scott has taught and worked in education since 1988. During that time, Scott has worked with students at all levels from elementary school to graduate school and taught in a wide variety of areas including; development writing and reading, first-year composition, American/British literature, drama, research methods, technical writing, and professional development. For five years, Scott served as a tennis teacher at CCU. Scott has also worked in CCU’s Theater Department on several plays and musicals as a performer, composer, and musical director. Since 2010, Scott has been the Writing Center Coordinator, and love his job. In addition to working with students and training tutors, Scott conducted research on writing center assessment and served as the editor of a journal devoted to writing center research.
Scott chose to work in the CCU community because he, “loves it here. That's why.”
Fun fact about Scott is he co-wrote the words to the CCU fight song, “We’re the Chanticleers,” with Joe Oestreich in the CCU English Department.
