Biography

Kathleen Lynch-Davis is Associate Dean and Professor in the Spadoni College of Education.  She earned her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with emphasis on mathematics education in 2003 from Indiana University. She has a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in middle grades education from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

She began her career as a middle grades mathematics teacher in Jacksonville, NC.  Subsequently, she was a professor at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC where she taught mathematics education and curriculum courses to elementary and middle grades preservice and inservice teachers.

Her research interests include preparing elementary mathematics specialists, mathematics learning beyond the mathematics classroom, and online learning in mathematics education. In addition, she has been awarded multiple grants that support the mathematics professional development of K-12 teachers.

Online teaching and learning in mathematics education, elementary mathematics specialists
