Biography

Candace Howell brings a unique flavor to her classroom that includes more than 16 years of field experience in broadcasting, marketing, public relations, and media relations. Her expertise in the field comes from a former life as a television reporter and anchor, international marketing director, and current role in academic as a Teaching Associate here at Coastal, and an Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dean of  Business and University Transfer at Horry Georgetown Technical College right next door.

If you ask her what her favorite thing about teaching is, she’ll tell you, “preparing students to succeed in industry. Arming them with the knowledge they need about what to expect in the field.”

Her dynamic teaching approach includes flipped classrooms, video, role-play, group projects, traditional lecture, and field trips. When she isn’t in the classroom, she’s running her marketing firm Edge Marketing. Howell has several clients in the area, and she manages all aspects of their marketing and public relations.

Interesting Facts

As stated in the BIO, Candace Howell is a former television reporter and anchor.  Her on-air career included WPDE and WMBF.  Craziest story ever covered, Hurricane Charlie.  38 hours of continuous storm coverage in the most dangerous conditions in the area.
