Biography

Roman S. Garo is a twenty-one year resident of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina who holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History, Summa Cum Laude, from Coastal Carolina University and a Master of Arts Degree with Distinction in English Literature from Mercy College. Professor Butingaro's Master's thesis, "Allegorical Alchemy: Microcosmic Man and Christian Eschatology in the Poetry of John Donne,"​ focused on the relationship between religion and the alchemical processes of putrefaction, incineration, and transmutation in Donne's metaphysical poetry. Professor Garo has taught at Coastal Carolina University in the Department of English since 2010, and teaches Composition as well as Composition and Critical Reading courses.
