As Director of Coastal’s Waccamaw Center for Cultural and Historical Studies, Dr. Prince specializes in local and regional history. His history of the tobacco industry, Long Green: The Rise and Fall of Tobacco in South Carolina was selected as the Best Book of South Carolina History in 2001. Prof. Prince was an Associate Editor of the South Carolina Encyclopedia. His recent book, The Golden Harvest, explores historical memory of agrarian life in the Pee Dee region. He recently co-edited Becoming Southern Writers: Essays in Honor of Charles Joyner. Dr. Prince and his wife Sallye reside in Conway and Surfside.
