Alejandro Muñoz-Garcés is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Languages and Intercultural Studies in Coastal Carolina University. Before settling down in the United States, he has taught at universities in New Zealand and Thailand. He teaches Spanish language at all levels, and courses in culture and literature.

His research interests include: the representation of “self” and the “other” in travelogues written by Spanish travelers from the XIX century onwards and the study of alternatives to the current grammatical sequences used in Elementary Spanish language textbooks. He has published articles on works from Javier Marías and Vicente Blasco Ibáñez.
