Assistant Professor, Director of American Studies
Drew Kurlowski joined the faculty of Coastal Carolina University in 2015 as an Assistant Professor of Politics. He earned his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Missouri, and his M.A. in Government from the University of Virginia.
His research and teaching interests focus on campaigns and elections, election law, voting behavior, political parties, and American political thought. Dr. Kurlowski is a frequent contributor to the media and his research has appeared in numerous outlets, including a recent chapter in the edited collection State of the Parties 2018. He is also the author of Rules Matter: Election Law Revealed (West Academic), a book on election law which is due out this spring.
Before coming to Coastal Carolina, Dr. Kurlowski was a research assistant at Larry Sabato’s Center for Politics at UVA, and was a senior research fellow at a D.C. voter targeting firm. He now serves as the polling coordinator with the Dyer Institute for Leadership and Public Policy and is a member of the Faculty Senate.
