Mikel Norris, Ph.D. joined the Coastal Faculty in 2012. Prior to entering academia, he worked at One Group Mutual Funds and JP Morgan Asset Management from 2000 to 2005. His research interests include judicial selection in state and federal courts, gender and courts, income inequality, and external political efficacy.

He is a Pre-Law advisor, and coordinates the newly formed Moot Court team. Norris also enjoys working closely with students to help them conduct their own research.  Some of Norris’ research has been published in Canadian Journal of Political Science and the Journal of Women, Politics & Policy, Information Age Publishing and ABC-CLIO.

Norris was selected as a Marshall University’s Paul D. Stewart Distinguished Lecturer in Political Science for the 2015-16 academic year.
