Kristi Rau McIntyre
Of course it’s hard. The hard is what makes it great. If it wasn’t hard, everyone would do it.” from the movie “A League of Their Own”
Kristi Rau McIntyre graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with her Master of Fine Arts in Acting degree in 2001, after earning her Bachelor of Arts in Communication/Theatre from North Carolina State University in 1998. NCSU is where she met her husband when they were both cast in Agatha Christie’s Murder at the Vicarage, and they’ve been creating theatre together ever since. Kris also received her Meisner Technique teaching certification in 2010 for her work with Larry Silverberg, and is a Yoga Alliance Board certified yoga instructor. Since 2002 she has been teaching acting, voice, and literature courses in the Department of Theatre, and regularly offers graduate courses for the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies program. Kris devotes considerable time to the greater community of theatre by serving as a Southeastern Theatre Conference Vice President (States), as the State Representative for South Carolina, and as the Professional Screening Auditions Coordinator. Additionally, she is on the board of the South Carolina Theatre Association, and regularly adjudicates at state conferences within the southeast, as well as being a KC/ACTF respondent when time allows. Kris is a proud member of Actor’s Equity Association, and has worked in theatre professionally for over twenty years, including as a founding company member of Atlantic Stage where she acted in productions of Vania, Sonia, Masha, and Spike; The Nerd; God of Carnage; Sylvia; Dinner with Friends; Almost, Maine; Proof; and Parallel Lives. Prior to moving to Myrtle Beach, she spent three years at Theatre Virginia where she got to be a part of such great professional productions as Scandals (World Premiere with Dick Van Patten), Communicating Doors, Moon Over Buffalo, Much Ado About Nothing, Last Night at Ballyhoo, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, and the musical version of It's a Wonderful Life. In her rare down time from theatre, you will find Kris spoiling her fur-babies, dachshunds Bailey and Fiona.
