Biography
Katie Lupton is a native Midwesterner, most recently living in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and teaching in Western Wisconsin. Before joining the Visual Arts department at Coastal Carolina University, Katie taught courses at the University of Wisconsin-Stout and the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. She has also worked in retail and advertising design, elementary art education and community engagement.
Her current studio practice is a combination of print, pattern, package, and product design; incorporating multiple mediums: graphic design, serigraphy, prototyping, and installation. Lupton aims to investigate relationships between design constraints and parameters within systems. The tactile nature of the work is heavily influences by her interest in play and participation and how both can be incorporated into design solutions.
