Matthew Bell is currently a teacher in the Visual Arts Department of Coastal Carolina University. As instructor of “Introduction to American Film,” Matthew draws heavily on his background in film studies, screenwriting, and history. Previous to working at Coastal, he worked in script development at the Los Angeles film companies Essential Entertainment and Midnight Entertainment. He also gained experience in screenwriting instruction as a teaching assistant in Boston University’s film department, where he earned his MFA. In addition to this, he also has several years of television production experience, gained while working at Charleston’s ABC affiliate station, WCIV Channel 4. He earned his undergraduate degree in US History from the College of Charleston.
