Biography

Lizzy Mottola '20, '22 is no stranger to Teal Nation. She completed her Bachelor of Science in public health (2020) and her Master of Arts in communication (2022) from Coastal Carolina University.

Mottola started working at CCU in 2019 and has experience in many different departments on campus. She worked in athletics, the dean of students office, the Department of Communication, and career services. She has a passion for caring for and helping others while being a strong advocate for students navigating through college. During her time as a student, she had the pleasure of working with many diverse populations. In 2021, she decided to use her public health degree as a vision therapist in Myrtle Beach while continuing her master’s degree. She assisted patients of all ages with vision problems as a result of strokes, dyslexia, traumatic brain injury, double vision, and intellectual disabilities. She rejoined the CCU community in 2022 for her graduate assistantship with career services because her true passion lies in education and helping college students.

Mottola’s advice to students would be to, "enjoy self-discovery, join organizations/clubs that are your passion, make connections with faculty, and take advantage of what college has to offer, such as research, internships, or study abroad opportunities.”

Interesting facts: Mottola has been playing the piano since she was eight years old. She also enjoys reading, hanging out with friends, dogs, listening to music, playing golf, getting tattooed, going on walks, loves to travel, and is passionate about all things advocacy. She also enjoys watching reruns of Law & Order: SVUSex & the City, and is obsessed with Friends.
