Sarah Meade began working at CCU in February of 2021. She completed her bachelor’s degree in sociology (2009) from Western Kentucky University and master’s degree in education counseling (2011) from Morehead State University. Sarah began her career in higher education due to having wonderful advisers in both her undergraduate and graduate programs. She has been working as an academic adviser for a decade.
The academic majors that Sarah advises are biochemistry, chemistry, engineering sciences, applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, information systems, information technology, marine science and physics.
Her number one piece of advice for students would be to enjoy the journey and work at your own pace. "We tend to get so focused on the end result, we lose sight of what is around us. It’s okay to be undecided and do a bit of exploring before 'figuring out what you want to be when you grow up.' That’s what people—like advisers, faculty, fellow peers—and programs—such as study abroad, clubs, organizations—are here for. I was a first generation/undecided student who discovered a major of interest and future career path simply by enrolling in a new-to-me general education course and one conversation with my academic adviser. Think of all the possibilities that are available to you at an institution like Coastal!"
