Joe Temple spent 39 years at IBM. He worked in development, advanced technology, product engineering, new product introduction, electronic packaging, and marketing/sales technical support. He was granted over 25 US patents. He led technical sales support teams, using relative performance methods, to optimize workload placement and platform choices.  He earned the position of IBM Distinguished Engineer. After leaving  IBM in 2013, Joe continued to do consulting and research on performance. He joined the CCU faculty as a teaching associate in 2017, where he has taught Introductory CSCI, Architecture, Infrastructure and “Enterprise Applications” (Excel).

Joe published Information Technology Performance 2nd Edition  contains content about the practice of performance analysis of IT solutions and will be used as the text for a Certificate Course in IT performance.  It covers fundamentals but also presents resent research results and the subject of “Performance Architecture”.

He also published “Nuts and Bolts, the world of Information Technology” which is a text for teaching introductory computer sciences.  Unlike many  introductory text it approaches the subject from an architectural rather than user (personal devices) perspective.

Joe lives with his wife Rae in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. They regularly walk  Garden City beach with their dogs, frequently visit with their family, and make frequent attempts to play golf.  Joe passed the Coast Guard Captain’s license exam in 2013 but failed the physical.  This gave him time work at Coastal and write the books.
