CCU/HGTC Bridge Program

The Coastal Carolina University/Horry-Georgetown Technical College Bridge program is designed for students who show potential, but don’t currently meet the admissions requirements for CCU. This program is designed to help students strengthen their academic skills and create a pathway of success that will lead to earning a degree from CCU. Enrollment in the Bridge program is by invitation only and participation is limited.

The Bridge program provides academic support services, specialized advising and opportunities for group study along with the opportunity to live in a learning community. Students in the Bridge program complete college coursework at Horry Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) while living in residence halls on CCU’s campus. HGTC is adjacent to CCU’s campus, so it is easy to travel between academic buildings and facilities on both campuses.

To gain guaranteed admission to Coastal Carolina University as a Bridge transfer student, a student must:

  • Be in good standing and not subject to any uncompleted sanctions related to the CCU or HGTC Student Codes of Conduct at the time of transfer; and
  • Complete 12 or more approved university transferable credit hours and earn a 2.75 semester GPA or higher in the fall semester of study at HGTC; or
  • Complete 21 or more approved university transferable credit hours and earn a 2.25 cumulative GPA or higher in your first year (fall, spring, and summer if necessary) at HGTC.
