What is the Confidential Financial Statement?
The Confidential Financial Statement (CFS) is an application form for all non-immigrant students as part of their admissions acceptance into a degree or exchange program. It is also required in order to obtain a Certificate of Eligibility I-20 or DS-2019 for those who will have F-1 or J-1 student status while at CCU.
Who Must Complete the CFS?
All non-immigrant students must complete the CFS as part of their admissions acceptance. This includes students who intend to hold F-1 or J-1 status.
What do I Need to Submit with the CFS?
- Copy of your Passport biographical/picture page
- Sufficient Proof of Funding (Click here for an estimate of expenses)
- Current U.S. Immigration information and documents (if currently studying in the U.S. on a F-1 or J-1 visa)
All documents can be scanned and e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Determine Your Estimated Total First Year Costs
Before issuing your I-20, we must verify that you have sufficient financial resources to meet the costs of your first year of study and that you confirm availability of funds for the length of your academic program.
Listed below are estimated total minimum costs for your first 12 months at CCU. Please account for potential 15% annual increases in tuition and fees. These figures do not account for large personal expenses, such as the purchase of a car or frequent travel. The estimates assume minimal summer living expenses and no summer course enrollment. If you enroll in summer courses, your cost of attendance will be considerably higher. We advise you to keep these points in mind when planning your personal budget.
You must show an additional $4,000 for each dependent to cover their estimated first year living expenses. This requirement does not apply to dependents with U.S. citizenship or another visa status.

Issuing Your I-20 or DS-2019
Coastal Carolina University's Center for Global Engagement will review CFS's on a first-come, first-served basis. In high season, it will take us approximately two to three weeks to produce your I-20 or DS-2019 after receiving a complete CFS application. This does not include mail delivery time. Submitting an incomplete CFS will require us to email you for additional information and may delay the issuance of your document. Please be assured that we work as quickly as possible to process all CFS applications.
