Mikayla Morris 

Class of 2019 • PresidentMikayla Morris, President

Favorite Accomplishment/Achievement: During my time as President of Women of Color, my executive board and I initiated the inaugural Women of Color Summit alongside the African American Initiative for Men (AAIM). I absolutely love to see how the summit has grown since then!
Current Role: I currently serve as the Assistant Director for Student Leader Development at Clemson University. In this role, I oversee programs and initiatives that serve underrepresented populations. I am also a Doctoral student aiming to attain a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership at Clemson University.

 


 

Anaiya Moore

Favorite Accomplishment/Achievement: My favorite achievement while at CCU was winning three different awards during my senior year: Greek Woman of the Year Award, the Ronald D. Lackey Service Award, and the Haven Hart Impact Award. I was honored to be the first in CCU History to win both the Ronald D. Lackey Service and Haven Hart Impact Award, and even more honored to show Coastal students, especially those of color, what is possible.
Current Role: I am currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and also serve as the Operations and Marketing Coordinator at Georgetown University’s Call Center. Representation is one of the most important things to me and my goal is to assist with the building and growth of some of the most marginalized communities in the United States and Globally.

 


 

Darnasia Jenkins

Favorite Accomplishment/Achievement: My favorite accomplishment was making the Dean’s list several times throughout my academic career. The support I received from the faculty and staff of CCU was top-tier!
Current Role: I currently work for one of the largest airplane manufacturing companies in the world while also pursuing a master’s degree in public administration.

 


 

Cameshia Williams

Favorite Accomplishment/Achievement: My favorite accomplishment while at CCU was interning with The Village Group in Georgetown, SC, a non-profit that specializes in improving the quality of life for children in the Plantersville community through after-school and summer programs.
Current Role: I currently work for an educational non-profit and research institute where I coordinate and execute programs for military and private sector professionals.

 


 

Eugene Bellamy, Jr.

Favorite Accomplishment/Achievement: My favorite achievement was serving as the President of Coastal Inspirational Ambassadors for 2.5 years, along with my service as a Student Alumni Ambassador.
Current Role: I currently serve as the Digital Platform Coordinator and Math and PD Support for Jasper County School District, after formerly serving in Marion, Horry, and Jasper Counties as a middle school teacher, middle school assistant principal, middle school principal, and district coordinator and academic officer for elementary and middle schools. In addition, I am pursuing a Doctorate of Education In Educational Leadership from National University.

 


 

LeKeisha Edwards

Favorite Accomplishment/Achievement: My favorite accomplishment was my entire journey of educational pursuit at CCU with the pinnacle of graduation, as I secured the dreams of my grandparents who raised me by becoming a first-generation college student and graduate. I was involved in a number of campus organizations, earned several scholarships, and attained an incredible internship with WPDE News Channel 15, all opportunities I received in large part due to the very special faculty and staff of CCU, but most importantly, my beloved grandparents.
Current Role: I currently work as a copy/content writer, and editor in the fields of copyediting, substantive editing, and developmental editing. I am devoted to philanthropic efforts that support the promotion of literacy initiatives for children and adults to aid in teaching and improving reading outcomes, and minimizing book deserts on a global scale, getting books into the hands of children and families that so desperately need them.

 


 

Tabitha D. James

Favorite Accomplishment/Achievement: My favorite accomplishment was being named the 2012 SNAP Mentor of the Year as a Coastal undergraduate student. I had an AMAZING SNAP mentor as a freshman and really took mentoring seriously. I never imagined getting the award as I was one of the younger mentors in the program, but I still remember and cherish that day!
Current Role: Currently, I am the owner and lead marketing strategist at SHEAM Strategic Consulting Group. Additionally, I serve in several philanthropic roles across the Southeast, one of which allows me to lead a team of mentors and mentees; a full-circle experience!
