Justification For Request

What research has led to this request?

Art history majors are required to take at least two non-Western art history courses beyond the foundation course (ARTH 107). Currently, ARTH 360 (Gender and Ethnicity) is included on a list of courses that may be taken to fulfil that requirement. While ARTH 360 may on occasion satisfy this component, because it is not routinely taught from that specific perspective, it needs to be removed from that list to guarantee that majors take the intended non-Western art history courses. Removing ARTH 360 from the catalog's list of such courses simply improves the catalog's accuracy. To be clear, the course itself is not being removed, just removed from that particular list.
