Justification For Request

What research has led to this request?

Over the last couple of years, CCU graduate students have shown more and more interest in taking Women's and Gender Studies courses. Currently, we only have 2 WGST graduate courses in the catalog. This special topics course will allow the program more flexibility in accommodating graduate students' needs and interests across campus.

What impact will this request have on existing academic programs?

This special topics course will make it easier for graduate students across campus to fulfill elective and cognate requirements for their programs with a class in Women's and Gender Studies if they think that feminist knowledge might complement their graduate studies focus. This course will bring more graduate students to WGS without having a negative effective on existing graduate programs.

What financial costs are associated with this request?

none

If NO change in cost is anticipated, how is this possible?

The course will be taught on a faculty member's regular teaching load and does not require any special financial allocations.
