Justification For Request

What research has led to this request?

The political theory offerings in our department have changed over the past few years, especially since our most recent hire, Dr. Michael Promisel, two years ago. Along with Dr. Kimberly Hale, they are offering more upper-level theory options than ever before, but most of them are not listed in the catalog as counting towards this major requirement. Therefore, I want to add courses they teach to the existing offerings (many of which are still offered on rotation) to clarify for students and advisors that these are political theory courses that fulfill the major requirement; this then reduces the need for course substitution forms, too.

What impact will this request have on existing academic programs?

This request is using already existing courses in the catalog and ensuring that students and advisors understand what they count for in the major. It will also allow these courses to populate properly in program evaluations. Therefore, it will not affect our existing academic program or other programs.

What financial costs are associated with this request?

There are no financial costs associated with this request.

If NO change in cost is anticipated, how is this possible?

The courses are already in the course catalog, and taught on an existing rotation.
