Use of Technology

Considering the increasingly influential role China plays globally, a Chinese minor makes students more competitive for domestic and overseas job markets in international trade, education, diplomacy, etc. More importantly, Chinese will be the first critical language that offers a minor program at CCU. Since I started my job in fall 2018, there has been a clear growth in the Chinese program in terms of both curriculum and enrollment. Besides a series of Chinese language courses that are offered regularly, there is a number of courses about China from other disciplines. Additionally, the continuation rate in Chinese is high. 200 and 300-level Chinese courses all have solid enrollments. Currently, there are 30 students majoring and minoring in LIS with Chinese as their primary language and most of the minors are more interested in pursuing a minor in Chinese. There is clearly a need for a Chinese minor to be offered at CCU.
