JOUR 305 Journalism News Writing and Reporting for Media (Print and Online). (3 credits) (Prereq = JOUR 304) Workshop on news media (both in paper and web format). Emphasis is placed on writing news features, hard versus soft news pieces and profiles for audiences of both newspapers and web news venues that include photography or video links. What research has led to this request?

The Department of Communication, Media, and Culture completed significant curricular overhaul, including writing new course descriptions for all COMM and JOUR courses. The new course description is written to be clearer about what the course involves and be easier for students to understand.

What impact will this request have on existing academic programs?

The course is not changing in terms of its course content or learning outcomes. These changes should only impact the Communication major by making it clear to students what the course is designed for.
