Catalog/course description: An introduction to the basics of keelboat, ocean sailing. Instruction involves sailing theory, nautical terminology, boating safety, and fundamental sailing skills. The course requires both classroom instruction and experiential sailing sessions. Water/boat instruction of on-dock and on-boat skills are practiced on a boat at an off-campus marina. What research has led to this request?

N/A

What impact will this request have on existing academic programs?

This class will take advantage of CCU's location by offering a unique opportunity for students to learn and engage in a lifetime activity. By offing this PALS class, students are also not "stuck" with traditional activity classes (i.e., basketball) where skill related fitness may be necessary to achieve success.

What financial costs are associated with this request?

There will be a $100 student lab fee for the class.
