MA in writing gets SACS approval

The Department of English recently received the final approval of its new Master of Arts in Writing degree program.

Faculty and staff in the department have been working for years on the new program, according to William Richardson, dean of the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts. The final approval came from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), the University’s regional accrediting organization, to accept students into the program starting in August. About 10 students have been admitted into the program, said Jason Ockert, who is heading the program.

"This will be the first graduate program that the Edwards College will offer on its own, and is an important step forward for us and for CCU in terms of graduate education," said Richardson.
