CCU to host the inaugural ASEHE board meeting

Being on the forefront of higher education as it pertains to service excellence is a point of pride for Coastal Carolina University. When we made the decision five years ago to focus on customer service, there were only a handful of universities making the same choice. Today, we know there are nearly 100 higher education institutions nationwide that have made service a priority in some way or another. Because CCU is recognized as one of the industry leaders in service excellence, many other schools reach out to our team for advice and consultations. As service excellence initiatives in higher education continue to increase nationwide, university leaders recognized the need for a national association to focus on trends and standards in the new field.

The Association for Service Excellence in Higher Education (ASEHE), founded at Coastal Carolina University, is comprised of industry leaders from across the country. Association board members will come to us from other universities and colleges that have similar but unique programs and initiatives related to service excellence. The inaugural board meeting for ASEHE will be held on campus on Tuesday, Feb. 13. The bylaws for the association will be established at this meeting, along with other essential logistics related to the function and purpose of the group.

While this initial meeting serves the function of establishing the ASEHE board and bylaws, plans are currently in development to host an open conference on campus in the summer of 2019. It is my hope that CCU will be well represented at that conference. Regarding the meeting on Feb. 13, I remind all of TEAL Nation that our university and our values will be on display and under scrutiny the day of and prior to this meeting. For us to remain at the forefront of service excellence, we must live the spirit of Feel the Teal® through our thoughts and actions toward others every day and continue to provide the best service possible. I'm confident our visitors will be nothing short of amazed by the service they receive and experience they have while they are here!

The reliability and responsiveness of your service, combined with your attitude to assist all our constituents makes me proud. Thank you in advance for the warmth and hospitality you will undoubtedly provide our guests.

Sincerely,

David A. DeCenzo, Ph.D.
President
