Outstanding Service Excellence Bonus

Recognition and celebration of our successes is an integral part of Coastal Carolina University’s service excellence initiative and growing culture. We have seen the number of CCU employees who are being recognized for service through the Chauncey’s Service Excellence Champions initiative steadily increase. We are extremely proud of the 105 employees who have been recognized to this point in the academic year, and it was wonderful to celebrate with them on the inaugural Chauncey’s Champions Day on Feb. 27. I look forward to seeing more faculty and staff being recognized and awarded through the program throughout the remainder of the semester.

I’m pleased to announce that another aspect of the recognition program has been recently approved to further acknowledge, reward and enhance the service excellence culture of Teal Nation. The Presidential Service Excellence Task Force recognition subcommittee proposed a special, unique award for one outstanding faculty member and one outstanding staff member for their service excellence. Our State Service Awards, scheduled for May, will now include the presentation of these two distinct awards.

Attached to each award will be a bonus of $1,954 (gross). In keeping with our policy on bonuses, the following three criteria will be considered in the determination of the most appropriate individuals.

- Increased organizational productivity
- Specific contributions to the success of the University
- Exemplary customer service

The subcommittee will be responsible for establishing the criteria for evaluating nominees; for reviewing the nominees based on the criteria; and recommending the two nominees for approval by me with the support of the Office of Training, Development and Service Excellence and the nominees’ division heads. It is our hope that these two bonuses will reaffirm the impact service excellence has on our campus community.

Coastal is special because of the people who serve it, and we will continue to celebrate them. If you know of an individual who provides service that goes above and beyond the normal call of duty, I encourage you to nominate them for Chauncey’s Champions.

Sincerely,
David A. DeCenzo, Ph.D.
President
