State Service Awards ceremony recognizes employees' time at CCU

I am happy to announce the presentation of the 2018 State Service Awards, which will be held on May 9 at 10:30 a.m. in the Singleton Presidential Ballroom. I highly encourage all employees to attend this momentous occasion and celebrate the successes of our faculty and staff. This ceremony not only will distinguish those employees who have reached the milestones of working with the University for 10, 20 and 30 years, but will also recognize our Chauncey’s Champions.

As part of our Chauncey’s Champions recognition, we will congratulate our 2017-2018 Chauncey’s Champion bonus finalists and announce our two winners. The two winners will each receive a $1,954 bonus for their demonstrated dedication to service excellence at CCU. The winners, one of whom is a faculty member and one of whom is a staff member, were chosen from among 202 Chauncey’s Champions who were nominated during the 2017-2018 school year. They were selected by a committee based on a variety of criteria, including their proven responsiveness, empathy and reliability, and the number of nominations they received. Because I am proud of all of our Chauncey’s Champions and know that we have so many employees who went beyond the call of duty, I know that selecting our winners was not easy for the committee.

Here is a summary from their nominations of what others are saying about a few of our finalists:

“In line with Jack Bodmer’s willingness to go above and beyond, he rescued a small tour group from the heat by giving them a ride on his golf cart for the remainder of their tour.”

“Sharon McCants exercises patience, professionalism and excellent customer service. At times, students and parents have asked for her specific assistance on issues because of her helpfulness.”

“When Daniel Abel learned that a fellow employee’s 7-year-old daughter was interested in marine biology at CCU, he gathered some items from his office to send to the daughter and later sent links to related study materials.”

This is just a small sample of how our finalists are serving our campus and feeling the teal. I hope you will join me at the State Service Awards this year to celebrate our Chauncey’s Champion bonus winners along with others who have proven their dedication to service excellence.

Sincerely,

David A. DeCenzo, Ph.D.
President
