Haunted Homecoming brought spooky cheer to CCU

by Smith

Traditionally, Homecoming celebrates Chanticleer pride, campus unity and the return of alumni. This year, the festive week took a spooky turn, also celebrating Halloween. Faculty, staff and students enjoyed the week of "spooktacular" events, hosted by the Office of Campus Life and Student Engagement.

Zombie Run and Fall Festival

The week started off with a Zombie Run through campus, costumes encouraged. That was accompanied by a fall festival, all to benefit SOS Healthcare Autism Awareness and Assistance Programs.

Farmers Market and Homecoming Court Announcement

Prince Lawn was the site of a farmers market with local vendors and the naming of the Homecoming Court. It kicked off a week that culminated with the Chanticleer football game against Appalachian State.

Paint the Campus Teal

Groups and organizations gathered to paint the campus teal. The chalk art masterpieces were created on the sidewalks of Prince Lawn.

Trunk O' Treat

Kids from throughout the region came to a Coastal-sponsored event to celebrate Halloween. The Trunk O' Treat was created last year by junior elementary education major Caitlyn Hinnerschitz. The trunks were provided by CCU students and organizations. The event, sponsored by the College of Education and hosted by the Student South Carolina Education Association, Teaching Fellows Program and the Call Me MISTER program, used money raised to donate additional school supplies to a partnering school district affected by flooding cause dby Florence.

InstaWeen Social Media Photo Op

Some students took the opportunity to dress for Halloween last week. The #CCUSocialMedia team captured some of the best costumes by setting up a photo opportunity on Prince Lawn.

Additional videos of the following events will be posted periodically throughout the week.
