Facilities department feels the teal through helping flooded co-workers

When disaster devastated the home of Pam and Eddie Warren, the members of the Coastal Carolina University facilities planning and management department arrived on their doorstep.

Pam, a first shift custodian in the Smith Science Building, and Eddie, a University locksmith, left their house by boat after enduring extensive flooding and damage from Hurricane Florence. From the beginning of post-storm recovery to now, members of the facilities planning and management department have been lending a hand to the Warrens by putting their skills to work.

Kevin Bowers, the lock/key control supervisor, loaned his van to Pam and Eddie due to their vehicles being inaccessible down their driveway. Once the water receeded, Bowers brought them his parents' camper and a tasty barbecue dinner.

Steve Bundy, HVAC technician, and Shawn Corrigan, energy management controls technician, did work on the water heater, as well as a broken water pipe.

Ronald Hinson, general carpenter, gifted the Warrens a bucket of cleaning supplies.

On Saturday, Oct. 20, Timmy Lewis and Joe Elder, general carpenters; Rein Mungo, director of facilities, planning and management; and Dale Altman, building operations manager, began hanging Sheetrock in the Warrens' home. Lewis and Elder will be coming back to the house within the coming weeks to finish up the Sheetrock through mudding and sanding.

The Warrens are grateful for the help, recognizing the selflessness of their co-workers. Way to feel the teal!
