College of Science graduate programs move into new space on east campus

Coastal Carolina University continues to add new facilities and spaces to accommodate recent growth, and each new addition has a domino effect on current spaces and occupants.

As Science II and Swain Hall have been completed and as the Smith Science Building renovations have been completed, science programs once housed in the Coastal Science Center have relocated to main campus, freeing up space in the facility.

Here’s a quick look at what is now housed in the Coastal Science Center on Allied Drive:

• The School of the Coastal Environment, including:

  • Center for Marine and Wetland Studies
  • Department of Coastal and Marine Systems Science
  • Fluid Dynamics Lab
  • Environmental Quality Lab

• Sponsored Programs and Research Services
• Office of Training, Development and Service Excellence
• Office of Emergency Management
• Payroll Office
• Testing Center

Here’s what used to be housed in the Coastal Science Center that is now located elsewhere:

• Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), now located at 290 Allied Drive (across the street from the Coastal Science Center)
• Department of Chemistry, now located in Science II
• Department of Physics and Engineering Science, now located in the Smith Science Building
