Intercultural Inclusion Student Services introduces the Brew Crew

Intercultural Inclusion Student Services is going under a rebranding effort, bringing new events to Coastal's campus for faculty, staff and students to get personal. The newest event, the Brew Crew, is a weekly gathering providing students the opportunity to engage with faculty and staff in a comfortable manner and space, and get to know these employees outside of the classroom.

On Feb. 18, the first Brew Crew included Dianne Mark of the Spadoni College, Teresa Keith of the College of Science, and Travis Overton of Executive Initiatives. The second event on Feb. 25 included Ina Seethaler of the Women's and Gender Studies and Nick Rhew of the Wall College. The third Brew Crew will include Monica Fine of the Wall College, Adriane Sheffield of the Spadoni College, and Tripthi Pillai of the Edwards College on March 5 from 10 to 11 a.m. in te Lib Jackson Student Union, room A-102.

Franklin Ellis, assistant director of IISS, says IISS is focusing on finding a way to reintroduce the office to faculty, staff and students in hopes of getting more people to stop by, as well as learn about the efforts of IISS. The first event was successful with 15 to 20 students in attendance.

"In the future, we hope this program enables faculty and staff from all backgrounds and identities to connect on various interests," Ellis said. "We hope that our space can become the catalyst for breaking oppressive barriers on campus and aiding in meeting goal No. 4 of the Strategic Plan."
