Third round of Course Enhancement Grant is open for applications

The third round of the Course Enhancement Grant (CEG), sponsored by the Coastal Office of Online Learning (COOL), is now open for applications. As a reminder, COOL Summer CEG grants focus on courses that have previously been taught in an online or a hybrid online format, but need enhancement work; these courses may not have received any COOL grant in the last 18 months.

CEG course programs are short-term, targeted online and hybrid course enhancement programs spanning approximately 10 weeks and focusing on three or more core areas of course enhancement.

To apply for a CEG grant, faculty are asked to complete their online application by no later than May 17, 2019, and will receive a confirmation email from COOL. Once the application deadline has occurred, a college application packet will be submitted to the appropriate academic college to their dean's office for final authorization.

An add-on component to incentivize faculty to adopt Open Education Resources (OERs) into their online and hybrid online courses is included, making course materials significantly more affordable to Coastal students, sponsored in part through the Student Achievement Funding Grant. Faculty will learn more about OERs along the way upon opt-in, and a limited number of OER supplemental awards are available. OER-converted courses may earn up to an additional $500 stipend per course.

Faculty may email Sherri Restauri (srestauri@coastal.edu), director for COOL, with any questions and to further discuss potential proposals regarding the 2019 CEG COOL grant and embedded OER program. Review the Course Enhancement Grant CFP for additional details and to develop and submit proposals before May 17.
