CCU students compete in national fishing contest

Two Coastal Carolina University students competed in the National Guard FLW College Fishing Southeast Regional Championship held recently on Lake Monroe in Orlando, Fla. Jonathan Ledoux, a junior marine science major of Fallston, Md., and Wyatt Hammond, a junior history major of Elgin, finished 15th overall in the competition against teams from 13 schools.

In addition to CCU, participating colleges included Auburn University, Clemson University, Columbus State University, Faulkner University, Freed-Hardeman University, Georgia Southern University, Kennesaw State University, North Alabama, North Florida, University of Central Florida, University of Florida, University of Tennessee, Martin and Young Harris College.

Full-time students attending any four year college or university are eligible to participate, in teams of two, in one of four qualifying events. The top five teams of each qualifying event then advance to one of five televised three-day National Guard FLW College Fishing Regional Championships. The top five teams of each regional championship then advance to the three-day televised National Guard FLW College Fishing National Championship.
