Todd attends regional crafts schools

Chris Todd, CCU art lecturer, was invited to spend time at two of the nation's top craft centers this summer – Haystack Mountain School of Crafts on the coast of Maine and Penland School of Crafts in the North Carolina mountains.

At both facilities Todd was involved in a class titled "Collaborations with Nature." These classes were originally scheduled to be taught by her friend and mentor, Jon Brooks of New Boston, N.H.; however, he was unable to attend. As a result, the classes were taught by Brooks' former assistants.

The workshop in Maine was taught by Mark Ragonese of Vermont, with Todd's assistance, followed by a two-and-a-half week workshop in North Carolina taught by Todd. Both experiences were inspiring, filled with artists from around the country interested in acquiring new skills for their personal artistic practice. CCU currently offers courses ARTS380 and ARTS385, which allow students to earn college credit for participating at workshops in various art and craft centers around the country, including the local sculpture center, Brookgreen Gardens, in Murrells Inlet.
