Grad students make presentation

Coastal Carolina University graduate students led a presentation at the South Carolina Council of Teachers of English (SCCTE) 2012 annual conference at Kiawah Island Resort on Saturday, Jan. 28.

For the second consecutive year, students enrolled in CCU’s Masters of Art in Writing program made the trip to Charleston County to discuss their research findings made in Denise Paster’s Advanced Composition and Rhetoric Workshop class during the Fall 2011 semester. Paster, assistant professor of English and coordinator of composition, made the trip as well, introducing the panel and joining the closing conversation.

Their panel, titled “Deconstructing Disconnects: Rethinking Connections by Looking to Disconnects,” discussed many of the gaps found at all levels of writing instruction. Presenters were: Brian Druckenmiller, Hannah-Jordan Grippo, Candace Kelly, Martina McKoy, Eileen Powell and Cameron Scott Wright.
