Tully enters bandmasters fraternity

James L. Tully, Coastal Carolina University's director of bands, has been accepted for membership in the prestigious Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters Fraternity.

Tully was notified of this honor at the South Carolina Music Educators Conference in Charleston on Feb. 4, with official induction to occur in Greenville on March 10. His nomination was sponsored by another collegiate band director and PBM member in the state. A professor of music, Tully has been a member of the CCU faculty since 2000.

Phi Beta Mu, a nonpolitical, nonprofit organization, is considered the highest honorary international association of band directors. Membership into Phi Beta Mu is determined by an internal selection and election process that constitutes two years of investigation into each nominee's professional background and accomplishments.
