Celebrating libraries with crafts, cakes and edible books

Kimbel Library kicked off National Library Week on April 9 by crafting at the front of the library. Students and staff came together to make more than 100 bookmarks and chat over some free cake. In addition to making paperclip bookmarks, students even taught the librarians how to make jewelry using hemp string and beads.

National Library Week ended at Kimbel on April 13 with yet another successful Edible Book Fair. There were many beautiful entries this year that ranged from the witty “S’mores and Peas” submitted by Barbara Burd to the creatively designed “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish” by Jennifer Hughes. Dr. Seuss was the author of the day, as the first place winners for both faculty and students were both inspired by “The Lorax.” Shelby Nicosia, Seanna Kautz and Emily Marchini won a Kindle Touch and an iPod Shuffle for their incredibly innovative (and delicious) edible book.
