New director of Student Activities is named
Whitney Comer, formerly with Clemson University, is the new director of Student Activities and Leadership at Coastal Carolina University.Comer will provide oversight of all student activities and organizations at the University including the Volunteer Student Services and the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life. She will serve as adviser to the Student Government Association and student media, and she will assist student organizations with leadership development, budget management and event planning.
Comer was at Clemson for seven years, serving as the director of student activities, associate director of student activities and associate director of student media and organizations. She was also an adjunct professor at Clemson and at Greenville Technical College.
Comer earned a master's degree in student development from Appalachian State University and a bachelor's degree in mass communications from East Tennessee State University.
Pat Singleton-Young, director of Multicultural Student Services, has been serving as interim director since summer 2009.
