Meet Neal Raisman, leading expert on service in higher ed

By CCU President David DeCenzo

I am extremely excited to share that Neal Raisman, Ph.D., will visit Coastal Carolina University on Wednesday, Nov. 13, to meet with our Feel the Teal leadership team, faculty and staff.

Dr. Raisman’s research has been a major emphasis in our CCU Service Basics training. He is the internationally recognized expert on academic student service and how it affects enrollment, retention and morale of the students and college communities. His findings, books and resources are reflected throughout the implementation of CCU’s Feel the Teal Service Excellence Initiative.

At CCU, Dr. Raisman will be sharing his research as it applies to service in higher education and specifically how we can best serve and retain our students. This is an opportunity to learn from the expert as well as to spotlight the many service and student successes we as an institution have had since focusing on service excellence.

The tentative schedule is as follows:
Thursday, Nov. 14
10:30 a.m., Raisman speaks with faculty (open house and Q&A)
3 p.m., Town Hall, Raisman to address faculty and staff
4:30 p.m., Raisman speaks with staff (open house and Q&A)

I look forward to our faculty and staff members having the opportunity to meet Dr. Raisman and hear his findings, research and challenges as they apply to our service excellence initiative. Thank you in advance to all for taking time out of your busy schedules to attend the November Town Hall and the additional time allotted to hear him. Together, we will continue to build our culture of service excellence and student success – Feel the Teal!

The Feel the Teal Service Excellence Initiative is about all of us delivering the best academic and university experience through the creation of meaningful connections. It is about staff. It is about faculty. It is about everyone who interacts with someone at CCU. We have adopted service excellence as the standard of care and engagement on this campus, and it is an exciting time for Coastal Carolina University!

Sincerely,
David A. DeCenzo
