Leading expert on service in higher education at Nov. 14 Town Hall

I am extremely excited about this month’s Coastal Carolina University Town Hall. All employees will have the opportunity to hear Dr. Neal Raisman share his research and experiences on service excellence in higher education. Raisman is the internationally recognized expert on academic customer service and how it affects enrollment, retention and morale of the students and college communities. With more than 36 years in higher academia and another 14 in customer service specifically, Raisman will provide candid insights regarding our efforts to raise the bar on service excellence and student success here at CCU.

Raisman’s findings, books and resources have been instrumental in the implementation of CCU’s Feel the Teal Service Excellence Initiative. As we continue to focus on service excellence and place a priority on student success at this university, I urge everyone to attend the Town Hall and learn as much as you can about the various ways we can serve and retain our students.

Dr. Steve Madden, CCU Faculty Senate chair and professor of communication, will interview Dr. Raisman about his findings and challenges as they relate to service excellence in higher education. The interview will examine Raisman’s research while identifying ways to move this universitywide initiative forward with success. There will be an opportunity for question and answer as well as a “meet and greet” immediately after the Town Hall.

I look forward to faculty and staff members having the opportunity to meet Dr. Raisman. Thank you in advance to all our faculty and staff for taking the time out of your demanding schedules to attend the Nov. 14 Town Hall to hear this inspiring speaker. Please note that a live stream of the event may be viewed at http://www.coastal.edu/president/townhall for faculty and staff members who are not able to leave their departments.

Together we will continue to build our culture of service excellence and student success. See you at the Town Hall on Nov.14!

Sincerely,
David A. DeCenzo
