Celebration of Inquiry meets 'challenges of times'

A riveting presentation by Richard Lapchick served as the perfect keynote kick-off to the ninth Celebration of Inquiry conference. Some 125 sessions related to the theme of "Meeting the Challenges of our Times; risks, responsibilities, rewards" promoted dialogue for presenters and attendees. Other invited speakers included Isaac Bailey (Sun News columnist) and Minnie Kennedy (educator and civil rights advocate)who focused on diversity and race in society.

Also invited for a panel presentation on the challenges of leadership were University President David DeCenzo, head football coach David Bennett and Horry County Schools Superintendent Cynthia Elsberry.

The two-day event included lectures, panels, concerts, plays and exhibits that engaged students, faculty, staff, administrators and community members in discovery and inquiry.

More than 40 undergraduate students presented their research in a faculty-judged competition and a poster session of student research was displayed for Q&A.
