Call for Proposals for the 2014 Celebration of Inquiry

The Celebration of Inquiry serves to foster creative inquiry and to recognize creative expression by the Coastal Carolina University community. It features well-regarded guest speakers, sessions by faculty, students and community members, and an array of performances. The next Celebration of Inquiry will take place from March 31 to April 3. The theme this year is “The Human Spirit: Overcoming Adversity to Accomplish Greatness.”

Faculty, staff, students and community members are encouraged to submit proposed sessions to the Celebration of Inquiry by Feb. 21 through the Celebration’s website at www.coastal.edu/inquiry. Any type of session including presentations, panel discussions, debates, films, etc., are welcome, and sessions do not have to relate to the Celebration of Inquiry’s theme. If you have any questions about the Celebration of Inquiry, please contact Yoav Wachsman at yoav@coastal.edu.

CCU students may opt to either submit a session to the Celebration of Inquiry or to the annual CCU Undergraduate Research Competition, which will be held as a component of the Celebration of Inquiry. The Competition celebrates the accomplishments of our undergraduate researchers and provides a venue to disseminate their work. All CCU undergraduate students are encouraged to submit abstracts in order to present research that they performed during the 2013-1014 school year. Questions about the Undergraduate Research Competition should be directed to Pat Taylor at patt@coastal.edu.

All classes at Coastal Carolina University will be redirected to Celebration of Inquiry sessions between April 1 at 12:05 p.m. and April 2 at 5 p.m. The keynote address by Joe Moglia, head football coach at Coastal Carolina University and former CEO of TD Ameritrade, will take place at 7 p.m. on April 1 at Wheelwright Auditorium. The keynote address is a free but ticketed event. In addition, the Celebration of Inquiry will include a panel discussion at 12:30 p.m. on April 1, the Songwriters of the Strand Concert at 7 p.m. on April 2, and a concert by David Bankston and Friends at 7:30 p.m. on April 3. Everyone is encouraged to submit sessions and to attend the many events during the Celebration of Inquiry.
