Faculty, staff giving is growing

In my seven years as an employee at Coastal Carolina University, I have worked in different positions on campus, each one shedding new light on the University that I began to ove for as a student in 2001. But nothing has compared to my most recent position as director of annual giving in the Office for Philanthropy. This position entails a few different components, but the one that has driven me the most is being responsible for getting my fellow faculty and staff members to make a gift to CCU.
When I started this role back in September, faculty/staff giving was at its highest at 23 percent. I was nervous knowing there were big expectations to get that percentage up – and that I could potentially become the person on campus that people run from – I knew the only way it would happen was if I believed we will get there, and it did. As of today, we are up to 50 percent participation. It is not 100 percent yet, but it speaks volumes. I did not do this, YOU did. Your fellow colleagues did. Your department did.
We have 584 employees who have made a gift to a CCU fund of their choice totaling more than $300,000 just since July 1, 2013! It does not matter if you give $1 or $1,000 – it’s about GIVING, and every cent makes a difference! It sets an example to those around you and especially shows our donors your support. It means that you too “buy in” to this amazing university. I have enjoyed speaking with various departments on campus and watching them reach their goal of 100 percent participation. I have been inspired by so many of you and look forward to continuing the path to 100 percent.
