Duct Tape Fashion Show is a summer hit

A go-go dancer sporting knee-high boots and a short striped dress of yellow, green, red and blue duct tape danced around the Edwards Courtyard as a fringe-vested flower child joined her. A robot, an Indian princess, some flappers and a gangster – it was the annual Duct Tape Fashion Show on Friday, June 27.

The summertime fashion show has become a tradition of the Summer Arts Academy at Coastal Carolina University as middle and high school students show off their creativity at the end of their two-week residence camp.

The fashion show was followed by an exhibition of the students’ artwork in the Rebecca Randall Bryan Art Gallery in the Edwards College.

The Arts Academy is held each summer for middle and high school students who wish to participate in an intensive study of music, visual arts or performing arts.

Participants in the sessions had the opportunity to develop advanced skills in visual communication, portfolio development and manipulation of two and three-dimensional media. Visual Arts courses offered experiences with two-dimensional and three-dimensional media as well as graphic design. Students also engaged in collaborative projects and art inspired games.
