Amber Campbell places third in U.S. championships

Coastal Carolina alumna Amber Campbell finished third in the hammer throw June 28 at the U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Sacramento.

Campbell, who throws for Mjolnir Throwers Club, had her meet-best toss of 234 feet, 1 inch in her sixth and final attempt, finishing behind Nike athletes Amanda Bingson (246-3) and Jessica Cobsy Toruga (235-4).

Campbell won the event at the meet in 2010 and 2012 and is a two-time Olympian.
