Waccamaw sees changes

Aug. 1 marked a big transition for Waccamaw, the literary journal Dan Albergotti founded at CCU in 2008, with a comprehensive site redesign and the announcement of editorial transition.

Alli Crandell of The Athenaeum Press at CCU did the redesign, and Cara Blue Adams has taken over as the journal's editor. Adams, assistant professor of English at CCU, is best known for her essays and short stories. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Smith College and an MFA from the University of Arizona, where she also taught creative writing.

Adams work has been featured in journals such as Narrative, The Kenyon Review, Ploughshares, The Sun and Epoch. She has also been honored with The Kenyon Review Short Fiction Prize and was named one of Narrative's "15 Below 30." Adams worked as co-editor at The Southern Review, the distinguished literary quarterly, from 2011 until June 2013, when she decided to pursue her teaching career at CCU.

“From my year as the poetry editor at The Greensboro Review, to several years in the same role at storySouth, to the last six at the helm of Waccamaw, it has been a privilege to help steward the work of so many fine writers to the public,” writes Albergotti. “I want to thank all the authors who trusted me with their work along the way.”

Poets, fiction writers, and essayists: Waccamaw is currently open for unsolicited submissions during August.
